> Connect an assistant, save a harmless fact, and recall it with a source.

Connect an assistant, save one harmless fact, and ask for it back.

You need an approved Deep Recall account and an AI account that supports a custom connection. [Sign in to Deep Recall](https://getdeeprecall.com/app) first. If access is not available yet, use the waitlist on the product website.

## 1. Connect your assistant

Choose [Claude](/connect/claude/), [ChatGPT](/connect/chatgpt/), [Gemini](/connect/gemini/), [Muse](/connect/muse/), or [another agent](/connect/other-agents/). Follow its setup guide and finish Deep Recall’s sign-in and permission review.

Installing a skill or plugin is only part of setup. Your connector must also be authorized.

## 2. Save a small fact

In a new conversation with that connection enabled, try:

```text
Use Deep Recall to remember that I prefer quiet places for dinner.
```

Look for an actual Deep Recall tool call. A queued response means processing has started. Wait for the memory to become available before treating it as saved.

## 3. Ask for it back

```text
Use Deep Recall to find my dining preference. Show the memory and its source.
```

Success means the assistant retrieves the fact through Deep Recall, rather than just repeating a sentence still visible in the chat. For a stronger check, open a new conversation or use another assistant connected to the same account.

[Open your memories](https://getdeeprecall.com/app) to inspect what was stored. You can archive or delete the practice memory when you are done.

## Keep going

Read [what Deep Recall is](/about/what-is-deep-recall/) for the full picture, or [save a memory](/use/save-a-memory/) for better examples. If the fact does not appear, follow [save and recall troubleshooting](/help/troubleshooting/#a-saved-memory-does-not-appear).
