Upload a file so useful information can become memories linked to the original source.

## Upload a file

Open [Documents](https://getdeeprecall.com/app/documents), choose the upload action, and select a supported file. The shared **Add memory** dialog also accepts uploads.

Supported files include Markdown, plain text, text-based PDF, Word (`.docx`), PowerPoint (`.pptx`), Excel (`.xlsx`), JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The original must be no larger than **10 MiB**. PDFs are limited to **100 pages** and must contain extractable text; scanned PDFs do not have OCR support.

A successful upload confirms that the file was accepted for processing. Memories can take a few minutes to appear.

## Check processing

Select the document to see its status. An uploaded or processing file is not ready yet. When it is ready, review the extracted memories and the original; extraction is not a guarantee that every detail was understood correctly.

Text documents produce an overview and useful current details from their sections. Office files are read as text, tables, slides, notes, or cells where supported. Image uploads use image analysis; small or unclear details can be missed.

## Follow a source

A memory’s source link opens its document in Documents. PDF page ranges appear when available. Download the original through the signed-in app when you need to inspect it directly.

Image memories may show previews. If an image link expires, reopen the source to obtain a fresh link. Original files remain private to the owning account; do not share an access-bearing image link unless you intend to share the image.

## Retry a failure

Read the error first. An unsupported or damaged file may need to be changed before uploading again. If the original was stored but processing failed, use **Retry** from the document’s detail. Check its new status rather than uploading the same source repeatedly.

## Delete a document

Use **Delete** in the document detail and read the confirmation. This removes the original and memories supported only by that document. A memory with another supporting source survives, with the deleted source link removed.

Deleting an individual memory is a different operation and does not automatically delete the retained original. See [memory management](/use/manage-memories/).

File upload is currently an app/REST capability. The four MCP tools are text-only and cannot upload files. See [limits](/reference/limits/) for the full supported bounds.
